Gorilla Evans osteotomy plates

The Gorilla Plating System includes 2 Evans plates offerings.

Both plating systems help to prevent graft subsidence with subsequent loss of calcaneal length seen in the early post-operative period due to graft resorption and help to prevent subluxation of the calcaneocuboid joint with dorsal displacement of the distal calcaneal fragment.

HEvans plates

The plates with a 3 screw fixation construct and the tapered posterior aspect of the plate prevent soft tissue, peroneal tendon and sural nerve irritation.

Evans BOW & ARROW plates

The plates use a 4 screw fixation construct. The ramped plantar aspect of the plate helps to minimize interference with the peroneal tendons and sural nerve.

Dual point fixation at the distal fragment provides rotational stability because of the large, flat calcaneocuboid joint.

Because rotation about the proximal hole of  the HEvans plates would require an arched path of the distal fragment, this is blocked by the calcaneocuboid joint.

The tapered “BOW” at the back of the Evans BOW & ARROW plates helps ease insertion and offload surrounding soft tissue structures. The reduced plantar point loading decreases risk of tearing or attenuation of the lateral aspect of the long plantar ligament. And the Arrow on “BOW” hooks onto the cortex prevents lateral dislocation of the plate once inserted.

Product Description

The Gorilla® HEvans Plating System includes 6 specific plates available for 6 to 12 mm graft sizes. The plates are low profile (1.1 mm), with a tapering of the thickness to 0.5 mm toward the end to prevent soft tissue irritation.

The Gorilla®  BOW & ARROW Evans Plating System includes 4 specific plates that are universal for left and right. The plates are low profile (1.1 mm). The four sizes of plates include a medial spacing feature that is available in 6 mm, 8 mm, 10 mm and 12 mm.

Each screw hole accommodates a 2.7, 3.5 or 4.2 mm non-locking and locking polyaxial screw. The locking screws feature “Cheaters Lag”.
